Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.
At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
