Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
