British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
